Giant Beasts of Ars Episode 10

I can't help but think that this episode of Big Beasts of Ars is the most disappointing of them all. I've had my qualms with the series up until now, but I've always believed it had potential, and I can't believe how anticlimactic this episode turned out to be.

The whole episode revolves about destroying Mezami's facility. In my perspective, almost every potential here is completely squandered. Facade and Jiro have another chance to argue, but it's quite brief and ends with a bang.Mezami's power-up transforms him into a genuine beast monster, which I'm not convinced is necessary in this situation. I get that villains occasionally acquire random power-ups, but making him a talking monster for no reason cheapens his villainy. He gives a massive exposition dump, which is typical villain behaviour. But he is quickly dispatched by a massive beast nom-nomming him.Okay? Yeah, I suppose. Facade and Mezami were the sole combatants up to this time, and they were both dispatched with little (if any) effort. All of the tension that the series had effectively built up over the previous few weeks has completely dissipated. What a waste.

The general woman, who has spent the entire season strolling through corridors, also comes just in time to impart Kumi's knowledge of life expectancy to Jiro. This is the most riveting section of the show; similar to last week's massive explosion in the forest, the setup was a little shaky, but the emotional reward was there. Jiro's reaction is powerful enough, and the pathos of a boy trying to end a war but not seeing the results of his efforts resonates. Nevertheless, other from "I assume we'll be battling space gods next week?" the series appears to have lost its main opponents with little to show for it.
